Discovery Dance

A great beginning for preschoolers three years old through Kindergarten to learn ballet and dance basics, creative movement and tap at the end of class. Kids have fun while they benefit by learning self-awareness, team work, motor skills, listening skills and much more.

Pre-Professional Training

Unique focus on training based in classical ballet and encouraging study of a wide range of styles including jazz, modern ballet, tap, and hip hop from experienced, highly qualified teachers. We offer training to any student working to develop strong, proper technique including dancers at other programs as well as those interested in our resident companies.

Teen/Adult Program

For those wanting to take dance training including experienced dancers, dance teachers and those who want to take dance but would be out of place in a beginners class in our pre-professional program. Also, great for those who want this fun form of fitness.

Robert Underwood’s Studio of Dance offers the highest quality of dance technique training for ballet, jazz, tap and more.

Based on a program founded in 1980 by Margo Marshall and Gilbert Rome, the studio has earned a reputation for outstanding ballet training for beginners through pre-professionals. Cece White and American Jazz Dance Company joined the studio bringing an equal reputation for jazz and tap dancing.

Our classes focus on training dancers. There is an annual recital plus performance and competition opportunities through Ballet Theatre Houston and American Jazz Dance Company.

    March 4- 8 is demonstration week.  Parents and other fans are invited to watch class. AND, on March 1 we launched our updated Teen/Adult program which will now be on a card system.  There is no impact on our pre-professional dancers who choose to take these classes.  If you are interested in this program, ask for more info at the front desk or head to the Teen/Adult page on this site.

  • Open World Dance Foundation 2013 Summer Intensive in St Petersburg, Russia

    Robert's dear friends at Open World Dance Foundation are offering a unique summer intensive experience in St Petersburg, Russia from July 16, 2013 thru August 4, 2013. Robert Underwood and Jill Oliver of Studio of Dance are working with the foundation to bring this opportunity to train with some of the world's finest instructors in a city that is at the heart of ballet to students in the U.S. The studio is holding auditions on Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
