The Creative Dance Program (ages 3-5) focuses on the basic ballet positions and movements appropriate for this young age. Creative dance and gross motor skills are taught as well as musicality and learning to work together in a group situation. Creative thinking , imagination, and appreciation of classical music are stressed at this level, making for an excellent and fun introduction to the classical ballet and the arts for any child. Tap is also included to help each child learn to experience rhythms and tempos in different kinds of music.
The Children's Division will take young dancers, starting at first grade, through a leveled program (Levels A-E) aimed at teaching the basics of proper technique and vocabulary. Dancers will learn the "connecting steps," correct placement, and long movement phrases to enhance musicality and stamina. The intermediate levels are designed for students who have progressed beyond the basic level and require a minimum of two ballet classes per week. Jazz classes are offered to ballet students ages 7 and older.
The Professional Division offers daily intensive instruction at an advanced level for the serious student who wishes to pursue a university degree or professional career in dance. This division also offers jazz, pointe, and variation classes to ballet students.
Jazz Classes are offered in each division to allow ballet students the opportunity to experience dance with different movements other than ballet and music other than classical. As in ballet, jazz technique and vocabulary are developed through the levels, and placement is determined by ability rather than age.
