Ballet Theatre Houston's Spring ShowS
2013 Les Sylphides, THE WEDDING PARTY, & a world premier to the music of gounod

Each spring the Company presents a collection of works to showcase the beauty of ballet and to inspire a passion for dance in our community.  We have special discounts for community groups who attend and Girl Scout troops enjoy these discounts and are offered a backstage tour as well. This year's performance will be at the Berry Center on Sunday, May 5th at 5p.m.

The 2013 program will include Fokine's Les Sylphides, music by Chopin.  The Company is having a wonderful time creating a new comedic ballet, The Wedding Party.  The performance will conclude with a piece including the full company and apprentices to music of Gounod.

RECITAL

The 2013 Recital will be presented at McCullough Junior High School in The Woodlands on Saturday, May 25th.  The theme is TRIBUTE.  All of our discovery dance and pre-professional dancers were invited to participate.  Costumes have been ordered!  More information for participating dancers and families will be coming soon.

BALLET THEATRE HOUSTON'S 2012 "THE NUTCRACKER"

Thank you to everyone for another wonderful season of The Nutcracker.  As always as we are loading up all of the props, scenery and costumes and returning them to storage at Studio of Dance, we are already talking about next year.  Save the date on your calendar.  The 2013 performances will again be held at the Berry Center the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Special Events

  • Dance Quote of the Day

"Passe is an action not a position." - Mr. Robert   Robert shares a wealth of information on a variety of topics, especially ballet.  In any class you take from him you are likely to get equal parts of history, pedagogy and current trends while training.  "Pedagogy" is the art and science of education.  So there you are, you just learned something by reading this blog post.

  • It's Never Too Late

It’s never too late to join a dance class. For students interested in joining our Discovery and Pre-Professional Classes, we are working on recital. Because we focus on training versus competition or performance in our classes, we welcome students whether they participate in recital or not.
